Under 10,s South Match Report,s

Sunday 6th September 09   Bilbrook Junior South V,s All Saints Junior Blues

The new season got off to a winning start for Bilbrook with a 3-0 win. Debuts were given to new signings Thomas Webb, Ryan Whiston, Cameron Mcgrandle, Alex Bailey and Manav Atwal. The first half was a tight affair with Bilbrook creating the better chances but with only the one goal from Shaun Birch to show for their efforts. The second half  saw a great individual goal from Tyler Turvey who picked the ball up in his own half and beat 3 players and neatly finish in the bottom right hand corner. Cameron Mcgrandle opened his account with a goal nicely taken from just inside the area. Altogether a very pleasing performance from all the team.

Sunday 6th September 09   Bentley Youth V,s Bilbrook Juniors South

Two games back to back were too much for us in the second game as we came up against a well organized Bentley Youth team. 2-0 down in the first half saw the lads heads drop a bit and it was clear that there were some tired legs out there. The second half saw Shaun score his second goal of the day with a real power driver from the outside of the area which seemed to lift the team and we should have gone on from there to get something out of the game only for Bentley to break and score a good goal to make it a 3-1 defeat for Bilbrook.

Players of the day Manav Atwal & Tyler Turvey

Sunday 13th September 09   Bilbrook Junior South V,s Perton & Codsall South

The first game of the day saw a close affair with our old rivals from last season Perton & Codsall.
The lads started slowly and were finding hard to get going in the hot weather, a ball over the top caught our defence out and we were a goal down in the first couple of minutes. We started to pass the ball a lot better as the game started to open up. A great strike from Shaun drew us level and the winner came from Joshua Hayes on his debut. A solid performance from Tom Webb in defence saw him walk away with the man of the match performance Tom in his first season in competitive football is improving with every game he plays.

Sunday 13th September 09   St Joseph,s Saints  V,s  Bilbrook Junior South

The goals were shared around in our second game of the day a 7-3 victory saw goals for Shaun Birch 2 Alex Bailey 2, Cameron McGrandle 1, Tyler Turvey 1, and a first goal for Brett Gee who earned himself a man of the match trophy for a hard working performance. A special mention for Kyle Bennett who made his debut today for the team a player who has showed great promise in pre-season and was very unfortunate not to get on the score sheet with a well taken penalty that was superbly saved from the St Joseph,s goalkeeper. Well done to all the lads today !!

Players of the day Thomas Webb & Brett Gee

Sunday 20th September 09   Bilbrook Juniors South  V,s  Wednesfield Lions

Short on numbers toady gave some of the other lads a chance to show what they could do, Brett Gee grabbed the opportunity with 2 outstanding goals and some good link up play. The lads found themselves behind twice today but showed some fighting spirit to keep battling away till the final whistle to grab a draw and were a little unfortunate not to take all 3pts when we hit the post late on.

Sunday 20th September 09    Willenhall Town  V,s  Bilbrook Juniors South

The overall team performance  was a little disappointing today but we need to realize how far we have come in 12mths as a team. A very good Willenhall team showed why they are second in the League with 3 tremendous goals which you can only applaud. A hard working performance from Cameron in the middle of the park earned him a man of the match award. Scott Powell in goal made a great point blank save when a certain goal looked on the cards. Keep your heads up lads !!!

Players of the day Brett Gee & Cameron McGrandle

Sunday 27th September 09   Bilbrook Juniors South  V,s  Wednesbury Sports Union Royals

Our first match was a clash with the team a place above us in the league Wednesbury Royals.
The first half was a tight affair with both sides defending well with very few chances on goal. The second half came to life when Joshua Hayes scored an outstanding goal taking the ball past 2 players just in side the area and placing the ball in the top right hand corner. Bilbrook defended well and when our defence was broken we had Scott in top form in goal saving from close range on 2 occasions. With only 20 seconds left on the clock we conceded a penalty  which was saved by Scott but
unfortunately we were to slow to react to the rebound and we were pegged back to 1-1.

Sunday 27th September 09   All Saints Junior Blues V,s  Bilbrook Juniors South

Our second clash of the season against All Saints finished with the same score line a 3-0 victory to Bilbrook. Shaun showed why he is an important player in our team when he commanded the midfield with his hard tackling and his will to win the 50 / 50 challenges. Shaun opened the scoring with his 7th goal of the season. The second half saw a goal from Tyler and a first goal of the season for Kyle Bennett who could have doubled his account when  he hit the cross bar early in the second half.
On the whole a good day for us taking 4pts from 2 games the season has been very enjoyable for players coaches and parents alike long may it continue Well done to you all !!

Sunday 11th October 09
Bilbrook Juniors South  V,s  Bentley Youth

This week saw top of the league as our opponents with an unblemished record of 8 wins out of 8 and 43 goals scored.
Shaun played a slightly different role in front of the back 2 for extra cover and yet again showed what a terrific player he is battling for every lose ball. Shaun stepped up to take a fr
ee kick just inside the Bentley half and riffled the ball home to give us a 1-0 lead. All the lads were giving their all no more than Tom and Ryan at the back who worked really hard to keep Bentley at bay. The equaliser came 1 minute before the end of the first half when a goalmouth scramble and clearance ended with a Bentley goal. In the second half Cameron Tyler Kyle and Josh gave everything, getting their bodies behind the ball and giving their all. When our deffence was broken we had Scott in tremendous form in goal with 3 brilliant saves to keep us in the game and earn himself a man of the match award. With about 5 minutes left on the clock Brett playing up front latched onto a ball over the top and found himself one on one with the goalkeeper he kept his nerve and sent the Bilbrook fans wild slotting home and giving us all 3points WELL DONE EVERYONE !!!!

Player of the day Scott Powell

Sunday 18th October 09  Bilbrook Juniors South  V,s  St Joseph,s Saints

The lads seemed to struggle to get going in our first game of the day against St Josephs. Brett got himself on the score sheet when he reacted quickly to pounce on a under hit goal kick to fire home before the goalkeeper had chance to get back in his goal. The rest of the game saw us create plenty of chances but we were unable to convert any of them into goals. A clean sheet for Tom and Ryan was pleasing and they both showed how they have improved over the last few months.

Sunday 18th October 09  Wednesfield Lions  V,s  Bilbrook Juniors South

A much improved performance in our second game saw a 7-0 victory to Bilbrook. The first on the score sheet was Cameron who was having an excellent game on the right hand side of midfield he beat his player and scored from just inside the area. Tyler scored our second after Kyle looked up and layed the ball off to him inside the area and Tyler turned the ball past the goalkeeper. Brett crossed from the left for Shaun to score his 8th goal of the season. The second half belonged to Cameron who went on to score 4 goals 1 a neat back flick from a left wing cross. A pleasing day plenty of good goals and 2 clean sheets thanks to Scott and our defenders.

Players of the day Ryan Whiston & Cameron McGrandle

Sunday 25th October 09  Bilbrook Juniors South  V,s  Willenhall Town

2 victories today would see us clinch second place in the league our first game against Willenhall was a close affair with Bilbrook having the better chances Kyle hitting the cross bar and Shaun shooting just wide in the first half. The second half saw Willenhall take the lead against the run of play and they held onto take all 3 points and grab 2nd place in the League.

Sunday 25th October 09  Wednesbury Sports Union Royals   V,s  Bilbrook Juniors South

A 2-1 defeat saw us finish 4th in the league with 1 game still to play, Tyler scoring direct from a corner to give us the lead in the first half. The game seemed to go flat in the second half and the lads struggled to keep the pressure on Wednesbury and allowed them to get the equalizer with 8 minutes left to play. A second goal 4 minutes from time left us chasing the win that proved to be a step to far and the game finished with a victory for Wednesbury who pipped us to 3rd place.

Players of the day Thomas Webb & Shaun Birch

Sunday 8th November 09  Bilbrook Juniors South  V,s   Perton & Codsall South

4 goals from Shaun and 1 from Tyler saw us clinch 4th place in the league and assured us a place in the 2nd division for the second half of the season. Shaun dominated the midfield and again showed what a great eye for goal he has with 4 tremendous strikes. The first half of the season has been very enjoyable for all concerned  with the highlight being the 2-1 victory over top of the league Bentley Youth. Hopefully we can build on this start when we compete against some tough teams in the next half of the season. Well done lads keep up the good work .

Player of the day Shaun Birch

Sunday 15th November 09   (League Cup)   Bilbrook Juniors South  V,s   Bentley Youth

A good performance in the first half was enough to see us go in at the interval a goal to the good scored by Tyler and created by some good passing and link up play by Shaun and Cameron. Adam McLachlan was back after his injury and took up the right midfield position where he worked hard and broke up their attacks with his hard tackling. The second half I feel we let ourselves down and didn’t close the ball down quick enough on numerous occasions and conceded 4 goals in 7 minutes. Shaun pulled a goal back from a well taken free kick but a 4-2 defeat was disappointing when I feel we showed in the first half we were capable of winning this match. The new league starts in the coming weeks and the lads will need to pick themselves back up and get back to winning ways.

Players of the day Adam McLachlan & Tyler Turvey

Sunday 13th December 09   (Charity Cup)    Warstones Wanderers  V,s   Bilbrook Juniors South

We broke up for the Christmas break with a victory over Warstones in our first Charity Cup match. An early goal from Shaun Birch settled the team down and they went on to play some good passing football and increase their lead to 2-0 with a goal from Joshua Hayes in the first half. Sam Carson made his debut for Bilbrook in the second half and showed what a good addition to the squad he will be.
A goal from Warstones with 6 mins left on the clock gave us some anxious moments but the defence held strong with Tom earning a Man of the Match award with a commanding display.

Player of the day Tom Webb

Sunday 24th January 10  (Charity Cup)  Wednesfield Wanderers  V,s  Bilbrook Juniors South

Our first game back after the Christmas holidays and bad weather saw us go down 2-0 to Wednesfield Wanderers. The lads heads dropped when we conceded the first goal and we never seemed to get into the game disappointing start to the new year fixtures.

Sunday 24th January 10  (Charity Cup)  Vic Market Tigers  V,s  Bilbrook Juniors South

The second game of the day was against top of the table Vic Market Tigers, 2-0 down with only 1 min  on the clock was not the start we wanted. Quality football from the Tigers produced 2 more goals before half time and left us with a mountain to climb in the second half. An early second half goal from Alex made it 4-1 and gave the lads a glimmer of hope. Tyler scored the second and suddenly we were back in the game, the lads started to play better football and made it 4-3 with a second goal for Alex Bailey. Another good effort from Alex was followed up with a shot just over the bar from Joshua and the Tigers were starting to look rattled. The last minute of the game saw Tyler one on one with the goalie and can consider himself unlucky not to win a penalty when he was brought down in the area by the goalkeeper. A much better performance in the second half needs to be built on next week when we play our final 2 charity shield matches, only 2 wins will give us any chance of making it to the final.

Players of the day Adam McLachlan & Alex Bailey

Sunday 7th February 10     Coven United    V,s   Bilbrook Juniors South

Our first game in the new Spring League was against Coven United, 1-0 down in the first 7 mins was not the start we wanted and the team found it very hard to get into the game. A goal from Shaun just before half time brought us level but the second half proved to be very disappointing when both teams cancelled each other out and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Sunday 7th February 10     Bilbrook Juniors South   V,s    Perton & Codsall North

The team let themselves down today when they simply did not perform to their ability. It was left to Shaun to drag the team back into the game with 2 goals in the second half to give us a share of the points. The day was very disappointing for all concerned and no awards were given for players of the day. We all need to dust ourselves down and come back next week and show the commitment required.

Sunday 14th February 10   Bilbrook Juniors South    V,s    Salisbury Rangers Yellows

The team showed the desire and determination that was missing last week and came out 3-0 winners against Sailsbury Rangers. The whole team responded just the way I wanted them too battling for everything and passing the ball around with confidence. Dylan, Manav and Tom made sure Scott in goal had a quite game when they dealt with any attack Rangers had to offer. Goals from Tyler and Joshua gave us a 2-0 lead at half time and that was increased in the second half with a goal from Shaun. Kyle worked hard upfront and was unfortunate not to get on the score sheet. Brett worked the right midfield position well supporting the attack and helping out in defence when needed.

Sunday 14th February 10   Bilbrook Juniors South    V,s    Perton & Codsall South

A well deserved second win saw us move into second position in the league table. The game was all over by half time with a brace each from Shaun and Tyler. The team showed their maturity when they saw the game out in the 2nd half and came away with all 3points. The lads have now set the standards that they need to keep up if we are to compete for the top spot in this league. Well done to everyone!!!

Players of the day Shaun Birch & Brett Gee

Saturday 27th February 10   Bilbrook Juniors South    V,s    Bilbrook Junior U,9s

No league fixtures this weekend gave us the chance to play a friendly against Bilbrook U9,s. After being under pressure for the first 10 mins of the match the dead lock was broken with a ball over the top from Shaun which Aaron on his debut latched onto and gave us the lead. Some great saves from Scott in goal earned him the man of the match award and kept our lead intact. A goal from Brett 2 from Tyler and a hat trick from Aaron was enough to give us the victory. A good team performance to take us in to next weeks top of the table clash.

Sunday 14th March 10   Wednesbury Sports Union Royals      V,s    Bilbrook Juniors South

Bilbrook Juniors South   V/s   Wednesbury Sports Union

Short on numbers due to sickness and players being unavailable proved to be too much for the team today. Having no recognised goalkeeper Brett stood in for Scott and gave his all to try and help the team through a tough afternoon. Goals from Adam and Shaun gave us a 2-0 lead in our first game but we could not hold on and went down 3-2. The second game of the day was against a team from the Premier division and a 7-0 defeat was a result we all need to forget. Next week sees us back to League fixtures and the team need to put this weeks results down to a one off and get back to winning ways next week.

Player of the day Brett Gee

Sunday 21st March 10      Wednesfield Wolves   V,s    Bilbrook Juniors South

A 3-0 win in our first game of the day with a penalty from Aaron and a goal a piece from Tyler and Shaun was just the start we needed to get last weeks disappointment out of our system. An overall good performance from the whole team with some good work from the defence, Dylan, Adam and Tom, when they were called upon. With other results going our way the chance to take spot in the League was ours if we could take 3pts in the second game of the day.

Wednesbury Sports Union Royals      V,s    Bilbrook Juniors South

Our old rivals Wednesbury Sports Union stood between us and top spot in the league. Aaron,s  goal  gave us the lead in the first half and we looked comfortable with Scott not having a save to make in the first half. We had plenty of chances to increase our lead and we were made to pay for our missed chances when Wednesbury took a share of the points with an equaliser in the second half. With everyone beating each other in this League it makes to be a very exciting end to the season.

Players of the day  Adam McLachlan & Joshua Hayes

Sunday 28th March 10      Bilbrook Juniors South   V,s    Coven United

With only 1 game to play today we needed to make sure we picked up 3pts to keep the pressure on the League leaders. Aaron gave us the lead when he pounced on a mistake from Coven in defence to riffle the ball in to the back of the net. We could do nothing about the equaliser with a good goal from Coven just before half time. The second half was going to be tough with us kicking up hill and into the wind but the lads dug in no more than Shaun who covered every blade of grass and Adam who was given a man marking job in the second half to keep Coven’s tricky right winger quite. The winning goal came from Aaron who along with Shaun won the awards for players of the day. A good performance from all.

Players of the day  Aaron Jones & Shaun Birch

Sunday 4th April 10           Perton & Codsall North    V,s    Bilbrook Juniors South

A game of missed chances is the only way to describe this match. Perton & Codsall set their stall out with 3 defenders and tried to catch is on the break. In the first half we passed the ball very well and created so many chances but just could not find the back of the net. The second half carried on the same as the first with Adam commanding the centre midfield role with some great tackling and passing. The deadlock was broken when Perton caught us on the break and scored against the run of play. The lads tried to find the equaliser but it just was not going to be our day. A disappointing result but a pleasing performance from all.

Salisbury Rangers Yellows   V,s   Bilbrook Juniors South

Credit to the team for putting the first games result behind them and deliver another good performance. It was nice to see some different names on the score sheet with Kyle scoring a header from a great corner delivered by Sam, Brett also scored cutting in from the right wing and slotting passed the goalkeeper. Adam collected his second goal of the season when he pushed forward from midfield to score just before half time to put us 3-0 up. Salisbury Rangers pulled one back early in the second half but the 3 goal advantage was restored when Cameron stayed calm to slot passed the goalkeeper from close range from a well taken corner by Tyler. The players are starting to form some good partnerships with Aaron and Kyle linking up well together, Dylan and Tom are gradually learning their positions at the back and forming a good defence with Scott in goal. The whole squad should be very pleased with how far they have come in the last 12mths this time last season we were 7th in division 3 and now we are competing for the top spot in division 1 WELL DONE TO ALL!!

Sunday 11th April 10           Perton & Codsall South    V,s    Bilbrook Juniors South

Goals from Tyler and Aaron gave Bilbrook a 2-1 victory in a hard fought game on a tough afternoon for all. One minute silence was held before our match in memory of Jade Yates the Bilbrook ladies player who died at the age of 17 last Friday. Thanks to Bilston league and all the teams, managers and spectators who showed their respect. The team was down to only 7 players today and some lads had to play in positions that were new to them but they battled away and came away with all 3 points. Next week we have two hard games against top of the league and the team in 3rd place we need to stay focused and play to our best for the remainder of the season and see where it takes us.

Sunday 18th April 10   Warstones Wanderers     V,s    Bilbrook Juniors South

Bilbrook Juniors South   V,s   Wednesfield Wanderers

Two 1-0 defeats saw us just cling on to 2nd place in the League by 1 point but having played 2 more games than the chasing team Warstones. The first game of the day saw us play some excellent football but just unable to convert the chances we created. Top of the League Wednesfield in our second match were a strong physical team who can play some good football. We never really created too many clear cut chances but again I thought we battled well and kept them at bay for most of the match. Tom produced what I thought was one of his best performances and Scott was again at his best as he has been all season.

Players of the day  Tom Webb & Scott Powell

Sunday 25th April 10   Bilbrook Juniors South     V,s    Wednesfield Wolves

The team never got into todays game 2-0 down at half time and only a couple of real chances created. The second half showed a slight improvement with Cameron scoring a well deserved goal and winning the trophy for man of the match. A day I think we need to forget.

Player of the day  Cameron McGrandle

Sunday 2nd May 10   Bilbrook Juniors South     V,s    Warstones Wanderers North

A very well disciplined performance today from all the team. Bilbrook dominated the game and came out with a well deserved 2-0 win with Josh claiming both. Scott,Adam and Dylan had a quite afternoon in defence but were there when called upon to keep another clean sheet. Shaun,Tyler,Brett and Cameron had to first win the midfield battle before they could play their football which they done very well and created numerous chances for the strikers. Josh and Kyle played up front and both caused problems for the Warstones defence all afternoon a good win and a pleasing performance.

Player of the day  Shaun Birch

Tuesday 4th May 10   Bilbrook Juniors South     V,s    Wednesbury Sports Union Royals

A re-arranged  fixture saw Wednesbury come to Bilbrook in a third versus second clash. A win for Bilbrook would see us take a massive step towards claiming a second place finish. After a shaky first 5 minutes we gradually started to take control of the game Dylan, Adam Tom and Cameron got to grip with the game and were first to the ball and battled for everything. Josh scored a quality goal from a great delivery from Tyler on the left wing. Half time changes saw Sam Brett Alex and Kyle come on and carry on the good work. Sam got on the end of a cross and score his first league goal for the club. The last 10 minutes we showed how far we have all come as a team when we shut out any attack from Wednesbury and on the odd occasion they did break free Scott was in tremendous form again to keep them out.

Player of the day  Dylan Hall

Sunday 9th May 10   Wednesfield Wanderers     V,s    Bilbrook Juniors South

A 2-0 defeat against the league winners Wednesfield was disappointing but results in other games went our way and we were able to still clinch the runners up spot. We created some great chances and with some more clinical finishing we could have come away with a victory today. A great season for all concerned and I’m very proud of all the squad for what they have achieved.
